The name of the game is Holiday LIGHTS!

  • Open to residents and businesses with winners in each category. 

  • Decorations must be on private property and visible from the roadway. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. 

  •  The contest is for exterior decorations only, which may include interior decorations visible through windows or doors. Judges will not enter your yard or home; all judging will be done from the street. 

  • Must be family friendly!

  • All submissions and display must be completed by 12/9/2024.  No exceptions.

  • Must agree to have your address on a map which will be shared on social media for the community to view Christmas lights in the area.

  • Only properties in Opelika city limits are eligible for the contest and judging.

  • If your address is not within Opelika city limits, you can submit your address for posting on the public map for community viewing but will not be eligible for the contest and judging.

  • Participants are responsible for their own lights, extension cords, timers, platform, working supplies, and anything  else associated with the display. Participants are responsible for the safe condition of their decorations.

  • You do not have to enter the contest to be included on the map. Please use the Map Only link below. 

 

Judges will be looking for:

  • Use of lights

  • Creative lights and decorations

  • Uniqueness of display

  • Overall design

  • Holiday spirit

Decorations for the contest must be available for viewing and lit up December 9 – December 30th between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Online poll voting & secret judges will be used to determine the winners.

Two residential and two business winners will be selected; one community favorite and one secret judge favorite in each category.

Contestant nor voter information will be shared with third parties.
